“Travel slowly. Stop often.” - George Ade
Our new house in front of our old house. We swapped 3000 square feet for 300.
Who are we?
We’re John and Susan Skelton. We’re Destination? Changing (“D?C”)! Nice to meet you.
One night in the fall of 2019, John asked Susan if she would ever consider selling our house, cars, and all our stuff to travel the country in an RV. Without hesitation, she said “Yes!” Over the next 2 and half years, we sold our house, cars, and most of our stuff. We bought a 2022 Dodge Ram 3500 dually (“Dash”) and a 2022 Jayco 36FBTS fifth wheel (“Hoosier”). On June 3, 2022, a week before our 27th wedding anniversary, we became full-time nomads, trying to see as much of America as we can.
John was born and raised in Logansport, Indiana. He’s a proud Ball State alum and member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He’s spent almost his entire professional career in the banking and finance industry and is currently working remotely on a full-time basis for a Chicago-based bank. John has finished 3 full Ironman triathlons, written a book (you can stop in the Library of Congress to read it!), and has had his photography featured on various websites and on the walls of professional offices.
Susan was born and raised in Terre Haute, Indiana, and graduated from Indiana State University. She spent most of her professional career in the sports & entertainment industry, working for the Indiana Pacers and at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts. She’s worked NBA finals, NCAA Final Fours, a College Football Championship and more concerts and events than she can count. She’s now retired.
She is currently pursuing her dream of completing a half marathon in every state. As of November 4, 2023, she’s checked 40 states off the list. But she just sent in her entry fee to do 6 halfs in 6 days in 2024.
